The two latter items particularly show a record far and above that of previous years, while the number of vessels surveyed for Passenger Certificate and Bottom Inspection is fair to equal in number, if not to exceed, that of any previous year.
One point I should beg your consideration of, and that is, the very great increase in the total gross tonnage and indicated horse power of vessels surveyed for Passenger Certificate and Bottom Inspection. In 1886 the figures are Gross Tonnage 168,099, Indicated Horse-Power 78,550, in 1893 the respective figures are 204,620 and 154,840.
